Reportedly, JayCee Cooper, a transgender athlete, won a discrimination case against USA Powerlifting after the federation banned her from competing in female events. With this victory came a mandate that the federation ‘cease and desist from all unfair discriminatory practices’.

Now, the Federation must cease all or any discriminatory actions because of sexual orientation and gender identity. It has to revise its’ policy related to such concerns within two weeks which means that the trans athletes will be able to compete in the women’s category.

This complaint was filed in 2019 with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, alleging the organization violated the state’s Human Rights Act and then a law suit was filed against USA Powerlifitng in state court in 2021.
