Three thieves go to steal van in Kanpur, realise none knows to drive.

This is the story of three boys, two of them studying in college, who came together to steal a Maruti van in Kanpur’s Dabauli area in order to make a quick buck. They confidently proceeded with their daring heist and managed to get their hands on the vehicle with no qualms. But then, they found themselves in unfamiliar territory. – None of the three knew how to drive a car.

Stumped but not the ones to give up, the three decided to push the vehicle. And they did just that for a good 10 kilometres in the dead of the night. The arduous trek took a toll and their bodies gave up. The tired men decided to abandon the vehicle. The thieves removed the car’s number plate, hid it in a deserted place, and fled.

Police on Tuesday arrested the three thieves, identified as Satyam Kumar, Aman Gautam and Amit Verma. While Satyam is pursuing B.Tech from an engineering college in Maharajpur, Aman is a B.Com final-year student from DBS College. Amit is employed.
