On 6 February 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern and central Turkey, as well as northern and western Syria. The earthquake was followed by more than 2,100 aftershocks. The seismic sequence was the result of shallow strike-slip faulting. As of 16 February 2023, over 43,800 deaths have been confirmed, over 38,000 in Turkey and 5,800 in Syria. Recently, Turkey thanked India as NDRF team returns after 10-day rescue operation.

As reported on 9th February 2023, a second Turkish ‘kindness ship’ that carried 900 tons of relief goods for flood victims had arrived in Karachi. The ship contained food and kitchen items, blankets, warm clothes, cleaning material, and mattresses which were handed over by Turkish Consul General in Karachi, Cemal Sangu, on behalf of the Turkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). Further, Pakistan never fails to entertain the world in terms of committing an act that is usually difficult to digest by other countries. As claimed by Claimed by a Journalist Dr. Shahid Masood, Pakistan’s disaster relief team carried the same aid material to Turkey which they got from Turkey during floods relief this year.
