India as a country understands the significance of Intellectual Property Rights and majorly patents i.e. the legal protection provided for inventions for the development of our economy.
Recently, Ford Motor Co. has filed for a patent on technology that could remotely shut down radio or air conditioning, lock you out of your vehicle, or prompt it to ceaselessly beep if one misses car payments. Further, the company stated that it does not have any plans to use the technology, contained in just one of the many patents filed by it.
This auto-making giant stated that the patent application for repossession-linked technology, cruise control and automated windows could be disabled if a consumer does not acknowledge a notice of an overdue car payment. Moreover, the company could even shut down key fobs, door locks, the accelerator or the engine itself.
One opinion was shared that this patent can be a major concern as by creating such technology, lenders with less-than-stellar reputations for repossessions could possibly take advantage.
